Well, I’m not going to lie. Blogging has been difficult as of late. I’m in a dry period I guess. I thought #bloginstead and #blogtown was going to jumpstart me back into play again but it has still been a struggle.
So, this is me! And I am not sure why.
Something that keeps coming to mind is purpose.
What is my purpose for this blog?
Sharing joy. Sharing ways that joy is inspired in me. Sharing the joy of the Resurrection.
The Resurrection of Christ is THE reason for this blog.
I need to keep reminding myself. And sharing whenever I see it, hear it, feel it.
Awhile ago I began posting what I call Resurrection Reminders, or Sunny Sundays. Each and every Sunday throughout the entire year we sing something of His Resurrection. The hymnography is always beautiful. It always lifts me up. And it is always variable, changing and there is always something new to share.
This particular Sunday not only did we sing of the Resurrection…
But today is also one of the 12 Great Feasts of the Church and one of my favorite bible stories!
Luke 2: 22-40 where Mary and Joseph take Jesus to the temple for his naming and Simeon meets them at the door.
So he came by the Spirit into the temple. And when the parents brought in the Child Jesus, to do for Him according to the custom of the law, he took Him up in his arms and blessed God and said: “Lord, now You are letting Your servant depart in peace, according to Your word; for my eyes have seen Your salvation which You have prepared before the face of all peoples, a light to bring revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of Your people Israel.” And Joseph and His mother marveled at those things which were spoken of Him.Luke 2:27-33
As the gospel was read in Church today I was struck with that last verse above, “And Joseph and His mother marveled at those things which were spoken of Him.” I was struck because I have always marveled at this story of Simeon. It is absolutely beautiful!
Blessed Feast day! Blessed day of Resurrection joy!
Let us fill our senses with the knowledge of His joy!
