Most everyone knows what TBT stands for right? Or even FBF?
According to Wikipedia it is a “popular internet trend” where users “post nostalgic pictures of their past accompanied by the hashtag TBT or ThrowbackThursday. It is used by people all over the world to share and relive their past experiences with anyone they want.” It has been around since 2006 when Sports Illustrated coined the term in a weekly blog post on photos of old basketball footwear.
TBT has become so wildly popular that Instagram alone has over 400 million #TBT’s.
The reason why I bring it up here, on this site about kindling joy, is not to promote the overused hashtag but rather to think about the WHY. Why has did this become so incredibly popular, practically overnight?
This answer is simple.
The idea is share the past, the nostalgic. Without a doubt, these are almost made up of those things that reflect positive memories of our past. The fun (or funny!) memories. And that means what?
They kindle joy!
So reach into your storage boxes and albums and bring out those nostalgic, joyful memories.
Let’s share them together. Let’s kindle joy with our memories.
Please share in the comments about where you are sharing your Throwback Thursday post!
