Maxim Week 52

Focus exclusively on God and light. Never focus on darkness, temptation, and sin. That’s classic teaching. Fill yourself with good things. Don’t be mesmerized by dark things. Don’t meditate on evil things. Meditate on good things, and God will take care of the rest.

Fr. Thomas Hopko

I can think only of the verses I have claimed for my journey to joy…

“Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.”  Philippians 4:8

This maxim then is what the goal of Kindler of Joy is…to focus on God and Light! To meditate on good things!

As I have talked so much about before, being able to do this is one of the most difficult things about me. I’m prone to negativity and despair. It is just what I developed in me growing up. I’m not proud of it. And I also just got to a point where I was tired of it.

I don’t want it anymore. So I decided to fight.

Focusing on God and Light is central to this fight.

Whether or not you are like I was, prone to negativity and despair, we all need to focus on God and Light. It brings peace and love and contentment.

It brings Joy!

Have a blessed week!
