One of my favorite hymns to sing is Psalm 25/26:8, “O, Lord, I have loved the beauty of Thy house and the place where Thy glory dwellest.”
Up until now my love of this song really had to do with the fact that I truly love the church and I love the services and the beauty that dwells therein.
But this past week as I’ve spent so much time out in His creation I have seen it from another perspective. As I’ve pondered on the fact that “we live in an altar”, I’ve come to understand this hymn in a much broader context.
“The whole earth is full of His glory” is what we spoke about a couple weeks. And the fact that we live in an altar brings the meaning of the hymn so very much more meaning, so much richer and so much more joy to my soul!
May we open our eyes where ever we are to see the beauty of His house all around! To take it in and feel His presence and glory in His creation.
I am an Orthodox Christian, a deacon’s wife, a mother, and an aspiring Kindler of Joy.
I believe I’ve begun to understand (finally), by the grace of God, where we can begin to find happiness. True happiness. My heart longs for a deeper connection to those around me and to creation. I want to feel joy not only in myself but to see it on the face of people I love and those that God brings my way.
Thus, begins my journey to become a Kindler of Joy. It is a journey, a path of learning and growing. So I’ve created my blog as a reminder to myself, daily, to open my eyes and find the beauty and joy around me. I long to share this joy, to spread this joy and to inspire others to become Kindlers of Joy. When we kindle joy in others we spread a light throughout this dark world. A light that is desperately needed.
Won't you join me in spreading this light, this joy?
