Tiny Perfect Things

James and I watched a movie recently titled “The Map of Tiny Perfect Things”. It is a incredibly cute “Ground Hog Day”-esque movie with a couple of teenagers stuck in the time loop. It is, overall, a family friendly movie that can be enjoyed by just about everyone.

The reason why I am posting about it is that there is something that grabbed my attention and the more I think about it, the more I love it.

At one point in the movie, they decide to recreate a map of all the tiny perfect moments they have discovered all around them as they move about town, during this same day they go through, over and over. In these 24 hours of time that they relive again and again, they realize that there are moments in time that are beautiful, perfect, lovely. Or one could say, true, noble, pure, just, and lovely. They purposely, intentionally, begin to move about this day seeking all the tiny perfect things and document them.

We are called to do the same, in our lives, each and every day…

“whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.”

Documenting these things is therapeutic in transforming your life into a life a joy.

Many studies have shown that when we write down our blessings, or things we are grateful for, we transform our life into a life of gratefulness. We can transform ourselves into positive, grateful motivators.

I pray that I learn to make a “map of tiny perfect things” so that I may live a life of gratefulness and joy.

Blessed Saturday, my friends!
